Matthew Whitaker Former Acting U.S. Attorney General

Matt was appointed to the position in 2018 by President Donald J. Trump, who called him, “a very smart man and a very respected man.” Prior to his appointment he had served as Chief of Staff for Jeff Sessions. In 2004, President George W. Bush nominated Matt for United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. He was confirmed by the United States Senate and served in the role through 2009. A native Iowan, Matt attended the University of Iowa where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Masters in Business Administration, and Juris Doctor Degree. Matt’s career has included political leadership, private legal practice, and national media commentary. He is a gifted, dynamic speaker and we are excited to have him join us as we come together to support the Gaston County Republican Party.

Brad Overcash NC Senator

Brad Overcash represents Gaston County and the 43rd District in the North Carolina Senate. He was first elected in 2022 and is the Republican Party's nominee for the seat again in 2024. He has faithfully represented our party throughout his career and previously served as Vice Chairman and General Counsel of the Gaston GOP. He is returning for the third year in a row as the top Host Sponsor of the Lincoln Reagan Douglass Event. Thank you, Senator Overcash, for your leadership!

Tim Moore Speaker of the NC House

First elected to the General Assembly in 2002, Speaker Tim Moore is currently serving his eleventh term in the North Carolina House of Representatives and his fifth term as the presiding officer of the North Carolina House of Representatives. Tim is the longest serving House Speaker in North Carolina history. He represents Cleveland and Rutherford Counties. A lifelong resident of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Tim graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992 with a B.A. in Political Science. He then attended law school at the Oklahoma City University School of Law and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1995. After passing the North Carolina Bar Exam, Tim returned to Cleveland County. He currently practices with his firm Tim Moore, Attorney at Law, P.A., in Kings Mountain. Tim resides in Kings Mountain and has two sons, McRae and Wilson. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain. Speaker Moore is currently a candidate for U.S. Congress, aiming to represent Gaston County and the 14th District in Washington.
